If you haven't been receiving signing notifications for a few days or an extended period of time, there's usually a reason why. Here are the most common reasons why you may not be receiving notifications:
Your Notifications Are Turned Off
The most common reason is that your notifications actually got turned off. To check whether your notification settings are correctly enabled, click on your name in the upper right-hand corner and click "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
Once you're on your Settings page, check the "Notify me when there are available signings in my area" and "Send available signing notifications via text message (requires a smartphone)" settings.
If "Notify me when there are available signings in my area" is turned OFF, this means that you are set to call only. You won't receive either email or text notifications of available signing opportunities since companies will see on their end that they need to call you. Turn this setting ON if you'd like to receive either email or text notifications.
If "Send available signing notifications via text message (requires a smartphone)" is turned OFF, this means that you are receiving email notifications. Turn this setting ON if you'd like to receive text notifications instead. Please note that you'll need a smartphone for text notifications to completely work.
Your Account Is Inactive
If you've deactivated your account, you will no longer be eligible to be notified of available signing opportunities. This is because deactivating your account removes you completely from the search results when companies are looking for an available signing agent.
If you've deactivated your account, you should see the following banner at the top of the page when you log into your account.
To re-activate your account, just follow the instructions here.
Your Ranking Could be Improved
Because of the way our notification and ranking systems work, not all notaries in an area may be notified of a signing opportunity. If you've been receiving notifications, but just haven't been receiving many notifications, it's likely that your ranking could be improved. It's beneficial to rank highly, since the higher your rank, the more likely you'll hear about all signing opportunities in your area and the more likely you'll be one of the first notaries to receive a notification about a signing. You Haven't Been Responding to Most Notifications
We recommend responding to as many notifications as you can. This is because actively ignoring notifications by neither responding that you're available or unavailable actually affects your signing notifications. If you're constantly ignoring notifications from certain companies, our notification system recognizes this and interprets this as you not being interested in working with the company. As a result, you'll be listed further down when that company searches for a notary in your area.
We understand that notary signing agents are very busy. Responding to most or all notifications is certainly not a requirement, but we encourage you to do so, even if you're not responding immediately. This is because it'll not only help ensure that you continue to receive signing notifications, but also it helps us learn your preferences over time and offer you more relevant signing opportunities in the future.
To help give you insight into which notifications you have and haven't responded to, we provide a recent history of your signing notifications. To help you get an idea of whether you've been responding to most of your notifications, you can see your response rate.
Other Factors and an Important Note to Remember
It is always important to remember that there are other factors outside of the three listed above that can affect your notifications. There are factors that lie outside of Snapdocs, like general market conditions and local notary competition.
We try to offer transparency and tips to help you increase your chances of receiving notifications, but again, there are a number of things that can affect your notifications that are outside of the tools and features we currently offer. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly why you aren't receiving notifications or why you're receiving fewer notifications. We can never guarantee that you'll receive notifications, but we try to point you in the right direction in increasing your chances of hearing about available signing opportunities.
