As a signing agent, if you haven't been receiving signing notifications for a few days or an extended period, there's usually a reason why.
Common reasons why you may not be receiving notifications
Your Notifications Are Turned Off
The most common reason is that your notifications got turned off. To check whether your notification settings are correctly enabled, select your name in the upper right-hand corner and select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
Once you're on your Settings page, check that the "Notify me when there are available signings in my area" (under the Contact Settings section) and "Available signings in my area" (under the SMS Settings section) settings are "On."
-
If "Notify me when there are available signings in my area" is turned OFF, this means that you are set to call only. You won't receive either email or text notifications of available signing opportunities since companies will see on their end that they need to call you. Turn this setting ON if you'd like to receive either email or text notifications.
-
If "Available signings in my area" is on EMAIL, this means that you are receiving email notifications. Turn this setting to TEXT if you'd like to receive text notifications instead. Please note that you'll need a smartphone for text notifications to completely work.
Your Account is Inactive
If you've deactivated your account, you will no longer be eligible to be notified of available signing opportunities. This is because deactivating your account removes you completely from the search results when companies are looking for an available signing agent.
If you've deactivated your account, you should see the following banner at the top of the page when you log into your account that states "Your profile is currently inactive." To re-activate your account, just follow the instructions here.
Your Ranking Could be Improved
As the way our notification and ranking systems work, not all notaries in an area may be notified of a signing opportunity. If you've been receiving notifications, but just haven't been receiving many notifications, it's likely that your ranking could be improved. It's beneficial to rank highly, since the higher your rank, the more likely you'll hear about all signing opportunities in your area and the more likely you'll be one of the first notaries to receive a notification about a signing. You are Opted Out of SMS
If you have been receiving notifications and 2FA codes via SMS, and you are no longer receiving these notifications you may have accidentally opted out of SMS. Additionally, your wireless carrier may be blocking our short code phone number from successfully delivering messages.
We advise you try to text START to 58163 to see if this allows your phone to receive an automated message stating you can receive short code messages or you have been opted back into SMS with Snapdocs.
Other Factors and an Important Note to Remember
It is always important to remember that there are other factors outside of the ones listed above that can affect your notifications. Some factors lie outside of Snapdocs, like general market conditions and local notary competition.
We offer transparency and tips to help you increase your chances of receiving notifications, but again, several things can affect your notifications that are outside of the tools and features we currently offer. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly why you aren't receiving notifications or why you're receiving fewer notifications. We can never guarantee that you'll receive signing opportunities, but we can point you in the right direction to increase your chances of hearing about available signings.
Snapdocs is a tool to supplement and facilitate your business as a notary, but signing opportunities/assignments are not guaranteed. Many notaries still make use of their networking skills, share with local companies that they're on Snapdocs and ready to work, and make personal connections.
